IVPA favours accelerated push towards edible oil self-sufficiency

The Indian Vegetable Oil Producers’ Association (IVPA) is sounding the call for self-reliance in edible oils. With imports stabilizing and showing signs of decline, the timing couldn’t be more crucial.
Global price volatility in palm and soybean oils, shifting free trade agreements, and domestic policy changes are reshaping the industry. These challenges are also opportunities—for strategic sourcing, operational efficiency, and innovation—while balancing farmers’ MSPs, edible oil-driven inflation, and food price stability.
At IVPA’s 48th Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, Sudhakar Desai was reappointed President for 2025-26, joined by a strong team of Vice Presidents from leading companies like Patanjali Foods, ADM, NK Proteins, and Cargill India.
Desai emphasized:"With imports declining, there is renewed urgency to accelerate self-sufficiency, even amidst competition from other key crops like pulses, rice, and wheat."
Under this leadership, IVPA is focused on creating value, driving innovation, and building collaborations that strengthen India’s vegetable oil sector for the long term.
As India charts its course toward edible oil self-reliance, the industry is poised to balance growth, sustainability, and affordability for all stakeholders.
भारतीय वेजिटेबल ऑयल प्रोड्यूसर्स एसोसिएशन (IVPA) ने खाद्य तेलों में आत्मनिर्भरता की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया है। आयात स्थिर होने और घटने के संकेत दिखाने के साथ, समय बेहद अहम है।
वैश्विक स्तर पर पाम और सोयाबीन तेलों की कीमतों में उतार-चढ़ाव, बदलते फ्री ट्रेड एग्रीमेंट्स और घरेलू नीतिगत बदलाव उद्योग के परिदृश्य को बदल रहे हैं। ये चुनौतियाँ अवसर भी हैं—रणनीतिक सोर्सिंग, ऑपरेशनल एफिशिएंसी और इनोवेशन के लिए—साथ ही किसानों के MSP, तेल से जुड़ी महंगाई और खाद्य कीमतों का संतुलन बनाए रखना भी ज़रूरी है।
IVPA की 48वीं वार्षिक बैठक, नई दिल्ली में, में सुधाकर देसाई को 2025-26 के लिए अध्यक्ष पुन: नियुक्त किया गया। उन्हें पाटनजली फूड्स, ADM, NK Proteins और Cargill India जैसी कंपनियों के मजबूत उपाध्यक्ष टीम ने साथ दिया।
देसाई ने कहा:"आयात घट रहा है, इसलिए आत्मनिर्भरता की ओर तेज़ी से कदम बढ़ाने की आवश्यकता है, भले ही अन्य प्रमुख फसलों जैसे दालें, चावल और गेहूं से प्रतिस्पर्धा हो।"
इस नेतृत्व के तहत, IVPA मूल्य निर्माण, नवाचार और सहयोग बढ़ाने पर ध्यान केंद्रित कर रहा है, जो भारत के वेजिटेबल ऑयल सेक्टर को दीर्घकालीन मजबूती देगा।
भारत खाद्य तेल आत्मनिर्भरता की दिशा में बढ़ रहा है, और उद्योग सभी हितधारकों के लिए विकास, स्थिरता और किफायती कीमतों का संतुलन बनाने के लिए तैयार है।
